StoryMark Changes the Way You Think of Pictures.

When you receive a StoryMark on your iPhone by email, there are many times when after viewing it, you want to save it to your phone to watch again and even share with others. To save a StoryMark to your iPhone library is easy. Press and hold the StoryMark attachment icon in the email and an action selector will pop up with a choice to save. Now you can go back to your favorite images-with-audio again and again!  

One of the StoryMark application’s features is the ability to save StoryMarks to your iPhone library. When using StoryMark with your iPhone, Apple has a lightly documented feature to be aware of when synching your photos to your computer. If you synch your phone over wifi, iTunes will not allow any movie type files to be transferred to your computer, including ones made with their own applications. The reasoning behind this is that most movie  files tend to be very large and synching them over wifi to your computer could be a very slow process. Even though StoryMark files are small – many times they are even smaller than the original photo – we have been included in the movie type category. If you want to synch your StoryMarks to you computer, make sure to use the cable included with your phone.

StoryMark takes your content security very seriously. When we set out to create StoryMark, our first goal was to make sure that your content stayed yours. As with all applications, there are many ways to write the code and we had to make a choice on whether to create your Marks on our servers or on your phone. While creating Marks on the phone is a difficult programming step given the many different types of phones we want to support, we decided it was worth the effort to protect your personal creations. When you create your Marks on your phone, only you have access to them until you decide to share them. That is and always will be an important part of our philosophy.  

  StoryMark is for anyone who has ever used their mobile device to snap a picture and then chose to share that picture with their friends and family on social networks.   StoryMark is more than just capturing a visual moment in time and then sharing that moment.  Some 11 billion photos were shared in 2010 so we know people love doing just that.  But what if you could narrate that picture or capture the sounds of the moment that make that picture unique — the crowd cheering, the band playing or a baby’s first words.  Imagine how many people will share those pictures. By adding the emotion of sound, you are now telling a story that marks that moment in time. That’s why we believe parents, grandparents, co-workers, teenagers, siblings, college students and even professionals like realtors, insurance appraisers, interior designers, doctors, restaurateurs and on and on will use our StoryMark app as a new way to tell their stories.  And StoryMark isn’t limited to new photos, add sound to any photos in your library.  So feel free to snap something new, import something recent from your library, or go back in time and upload those really old photos, and do something that you couldn’t do before … give them a voice that you can pass along from generation to generation.

Why StoryMark? Many people have asked what the difference is between taking a video and a StoryMark.  With video you are able to capture the voices and background noise of an experience as its happening, but if you are relying on your smart phone, expect the dizzy shaking that goes hand in hand with what we call, “not so smart video.”  If you want to take a still shot of your video, sorry.  Expect it to turn out grainy and unclear, and who wants to share fuzz. With StoryMark, you are able to take a clear and crisp photo or choose one from your existing library.  Then, you can add the emotion of voice, on-location sounds, or music to your StoryMark.  Oh, and if you want to think about it before you narrate, no problem.  Take your time and mark it with your voice, then share and save it as part of your StoryMark library. Another thing, have you ever noticed how people shy away from being on a video, but they will happily smile for a picture?  StoryMark is the only way you can combine the emotion of a video with quality of a photograph.
